Dear Colleagues,
I am enlisting your assistance in recruiting 3-4 new graduate students into our Masters program at CSU Monterey Bay. Our campus is part of a new NOAA Cooperative Science Center focused on Coastal and Marine Ecosystems. I'm serving as the campus PI for the center: http://www.noaa.gov/office-education/epp-msi/csc/noaa-environmental-cooperative-science-center.
As part of CSUMB's center funding we are recruiting for 3-4 new Masters positions for Fall 2017. We are able to offer prospective students at least two years of stipend support ($20,000/year), tuition waivers, a research fund of $10,000, support to intern at a NOAA facility and conference travel funding. A third year of funding is available contingent on thesis progress.
Student thesis research will focus on one of three NOAA/National Ocean Service Priority areas (research areas are not exhaustive):
1. Coastal Resilience: Sample subject areas include ecosystem resistance to climate change, ocean acidification, marine debris impacts, aquaculture.
2. Coastal Intelligence: Sample subject areas include big data analytics, AUV/ROV design, remote sensing, ocean observation networks.
3. Place Based Conservation: Sample subject areas include MPA design, estuary science, coastal conservation and restoration science, geospatial science.
Students can apply for graduate studies through our Applied Marine and Watershed Science program https://csumb.edu/amws. Beginning this year students can also apply to work with CSUMB faculty through the Marine Science Masters program at Moss Landing Marine Labs. Including myself other CSUMB faculty who will accept students through the Moss Landing Program include, Alison Haupt, Rikk Kvitek, James Lindholm, Cheryl Logan, Steve Moore and Kerry Nickols. Our complete graduate faculty listing can be found here: https://csumb.edu/amws/faculty. Students accepted through the program will also be required to have a NOAA scientist as part of their thesis committee. Our application deadline is February 01, 2017.

I've attached an information flyer for interested students. Students should feel free to contact me for additional information. If you have any questions please let me know and thanks for your assistance.
