The Undergraduate assistant position will support field investigations and report development. Work will include surveys of all of the tidal inlets in Texas, attending Coastal Zone Area Committee Meetings, liaison with stakeholders, collaborating with database management personnel, and conducting field trials of planned oil spill response deployment strategies. This position may require overnight travel, lifting heavy equipment such as boom and skimmers, and other significant physical efforts.
Qualifications [cid:image001.gif at 01CEC356.CB6B3E50] :
Applicants should be senior level undergraduate students. Each applicant should have some spill response experience in actual or simulated spill events. Experience should include deployment of boom and skimmers (including skimmer vessels). Applicants for the position should have experience driving 3Ž4 ton or larger vehicles and pulling boats or equipment trailers weighing up to 11,000 pounds. Previous experience with the National Spill Control School and previous employment in a full or part time position within the Texas A&M System is an advantage. TrainTraq assignments should be complete at the time of hiring or should be completed within 2 weeks of accepting the position.
