Coming Soon: Duo for Students
The implementation of IslandID two-factor authentication, powered by Duo Security, for faculty and staff has been implemented fully since March 2018. Duo Security will be added to student IslandID accounts this October, and the Division of Information Technology (IT) is planning for a successful implementation.
IT asks University faculty and staff to assist in communicating this important change to students. A key part of the migration to two-factor authentication is ensuring that student mobile devices continue to receive email. The steps students must take to continue receiving their email on their mobile devices, can be found at twostep.tamucc.edu<https://it.tamucc.edu/Accounts/PDF/DuoforEmail.pdf>.
The attached flyer also provides details related to student IslandID activation.
The number of compromised IslandID accounts dropped significantly since IslandID two-factor authentication was put in place for faculty and staff. Now activating this same level of security for students will further protect the University from phishing and malicious activity and provide a secure, safe, learning environment for our everyone.
