If you are thinking of field camp this summer, the TAMUK Geology program 
announced their summer 2016 field camp at the CCGS luncheon last week.  
They passed on electronic versions of the flyer and application form the 
other day, and I am passing them on here. Several of our students have 
attended the TAMUK field camp with pretty good results.  In fact, last 
year one of our students who attended received the Best Final Field 
Report award for a report that "was clear, well written and similar to 
what one would expect at the conclusion of a large project, totaling 28 
pages of text and 51 figures."  Woo-hoo, go TAMUCC Geology!  Anyway, 
materials for their summer 2016 field camp are attached, and also feel 
free to write TAMUK Prof. Mark Ford with any questions (his e-mail is 
below).

I believe there is some advantage to participating in a TAMU system 
program (whether it be by TAMUK or the main TAMU campus) because since 
we are also part of the TAMU system, I think you can qualify for 
financial aid for some help with the expense.  But do confirm this with 
somebody who knows for certain (probably the Financial Aid Office...) in 
case I am incorrect.

I alluded to the main TAMU campus geology field camp above, and I can 
personally vouch for that camp as well having taught a portion of it in 
summer 2012.  I was in the Montana-based version, and it was definitely 
comprehensive and rigorous.  You can find some information about that
