A head's up for the start of the monthly lecture/luncheons hosted by the 
CCGS/CBGS can be found below.  As usual, entrance by students is free, 
you simply have to RSVP to Allison Corcoran (details below). Besides 
hearing some interesting science, this is a great way to get to know 
some of the folks who work in the oil/gas business downtown (especially 
if you are ever interested in an internship or employment!).  And 
furthermore, it is a handful of these folks that help decide on 
distributing the CCGS scholarships!  So if your name or face rings a 
bell, that's always helpful instead of being a complete unknown.

Speaking of CCGS scholarships, there is an imminent deadline for the 
first round of awards this year--just 10 days from now on 18 October.  
The application is super simple, and it can be found in the October 
bulletin (link below).  Though the application is simple, it does take 
some lead time because you need to request letters of recommendation.  
Anyway, we hope that many of you will make the effort as the CCGS has 
been extremely generous with TAMUCC students in the past.  Even if you 
don't hit all the bullet points, don't be afraid to send in an 
application as your name may come up for something else in the 
future--who knows!

The Corpus Christi Geological Society and Coastal Bend Geophysical 
Society *October Luncheon* will be held *Wednesday*, *October 15, 2014* 
at the *_Corpus Christi Town Club _*(One Shoreline Plaza-Downtown).

Drinks will be served beginning at 11:30 am, lunch will be served at

and no-shows will be invoiced.
