The Texas Sea Grant Coastal Planning Program is pleased to announce the availability of two internships for the summer of 2014. Interns will work on the Texas Public Access Inventory Project.

Texas Sea Grant envisions a future where people live, work and play along the Texas Gulf Coast in harmony with the natural resources that attract and sustain them, and where we use our natural resources in ways that capture the economic, environmental and cultural benefits they offer, while preserving their quality and abundance for future generations. Public access to the Texas coast is the underlying foundation of this vision.

The goal of this project will be to update the Texas Public Access Inventory and enhance the Texas General Land Office (TGLO) Beach and Bay Access Guide (BBAG). The BBAG will be enhanced by providing up-to-date access data, photos of public access sites and amenities, and embedded into various forms of outreach and communication.

Internship work will include ground truthing existing data, writing short reports, and assisting in public input meetings within the North and South coast regions. The North coast region will include Orange, Jefferson, Chambers, Harris, Galveston, Brazoria, Matagorda, Jackson, and Victoria Counties. The South coast region will include Kleberg, Kenedy, Willacy, and Cameron Counties.
