[cosc-grad-students-list] IslanderHack Registration Closes October 5th (Win 3D Printers & More!)

Mon Sep 28 16:33:11 CDT 2026

Hi Islanders!

Registration for IslanderHack officially closes in 1 week on October 5th! The event kicks off on October 9th, and it is one of the best ways to level up your technical skills and build a standout portfolio.

What is a hackathon?
If you haven't been to one yet, a hackathon is a fast-paced software and hardware creation sprint. Over the weekend, you'll team up with fellow students to build a functional prototype, ranging from smart software solutions to custom hardware tools, starting from scratch. It's a low-stakes, high-reward environment to practice efficient coding, rapid problem-solving, and real-time debugging.

Why should I participate?

  * Big Prizes & Raffles: Winning teams get a Creality Ender 3D Printer, Beats Solo Buds, 8BitDo Retro Mechanical Keyboards, or an Elgato Stream Deck for every team member, plus a raffle for Raspberry Pi Pico Starter Kits.

  * Free Meals: Chick-fil-A, Domino's, snacks, and drinks provided all weekend!

  * Mentors & Workshops: On-site mentors help to debug, guide, and walk through new tools. Plus, hear from industry professionals during the IslanderHack workshops.

  * Flexible Teams: Bring your own team or form a team right at kickoff!
