Title: IMPROVING UNDERWATER RECOGNITION THROUGH DOMAIN TRANSFER

Abstract: Unmanned underwater vehicles could potentially provide huge utility to both recreational and navy
divers, provided they can accurately recognize their environments and inter-op with both their task
and user. The difficulty of collecting underwater data presents complications in creating robust
and generalizable underwater recognition models for these use cases. Domain transfer can be used
to take advantage of the plethora and ease of above water datasets by transferring them to look
as though they were taken underwater. This project uses the latest domain transfer architectures
to create underwater-like datasets. Such datasets are used for the evaluation of the accuracy and
usefulness of the domain transfer process.
