MARICULTURE DEGREE PROGRAM

TEXAS A&M UNIVERSITY - CORPUS CHRISTI

 

 

Position Title:  Mariculture Graduate Assistant

           Salary:  Undergraduate: $8.00-$10.00 / hour (20 hours/week) 

                         Graduate: $11.00 - $12.00 / hour (20
hours/week)

 

Duration: Minimum of one (1) calendar year with the opportunity to
extend for a second year upon completion of a formal review of work and
scholastic achievement.

 

Supervisor:  Dr. David McKee (CS 250)

Position Description: Assist Mariculture faculty and staff in areas
including but not restricted to class and lab preparation, field
trip/field work assistance, sample collection, field, library,
laboratory and internet  research, and various administrative and
coordination functions including but not restricted to computer and
clerical work. Job may also include various web page management duties.

 

Working Conditions: Occasional field and laboratory work will be
required (sometimes with biohazardous materials and the appropriate
safety equipment).  Behavior and dress will reflect a collegiate
demeanor.

 

Minimum Qualifications:  An upper level or graduate student in good
standing at TAMU-CC with at least a 3.0 GPA. 

 

Selection Criteria:

1.	Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with
faculty and staff, students, and the general public.
2.	Class or work experience in some of the following areas:
aquaculture techniques, marine ecology, water chemistry, aquatic animal
nutrition, aquatic disease, and aquaculture economics.
3.	Must have good work habits including reliability, promptness and
the ability to follow multiple instructions.
4.	Ability to work with minimal supervision.

personal skills, and academic and career goals to Dr. McKee (TAMU-CC, CS
250).
