<p class="MsoPlainText">Dr. Chandra Sekharan Bio:<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoPlainText">Chandra N Sekharan currently serves as chair of the computer science department at Loyola University Chicago, having served in the same role from 2005 to 2012. As chair, he oversees a department having 25 faculty and about 450 undergraduate
and graduate students majoring in several degree programs. After undergoing leadership training as Fellow of American Council on Education he served as Special Assistant to the Provost in spearheading key academic initiatives at the university. Before joining
Loyola, Dr. Sekharan served as an assistant professor at the Center for Parallel Computation, Department of Computer Science, University of Central Florida after graduating from Clemson University with a PhD. His academic background includes degrees in Physics,
Electrical Engineering, Computer Science and Mathematical Sciences. Dr. Sekharan has published extensively in the research areas of performance engineering and benchmarking in parallel and distributed computing environments, big data compression, and more
recently applications of blockchain and machine learning. He has performed funded research for federal agencies such as NSF and US Army. He has consulted on high-performance software projects for United Airlines, Amoco Chemicals, and SAIC and on web-related
intellectual property patent issues for Chicago area law firms. He is a Senior Member of IEEE, Commissioner of Computing Accreditation Council, and ABET team chair.<o:p></o:p></p>
